Studying In Malaysia.

Malaysia as a Regional Centre of Educational Excellence

In recent years, due to the encouragement and promotion by the Ministry of Education, there are an increasing number of foreign students studying in Malaysia. Currently, there are about 13,000 foreign students studying in Malaysia. Malaysia has many Public Universities that are renowned in the Asia-Pacific-Region, namely University of Malaya, University of Putra and University of Science Malaysia. Public Universities offer a range of 3-year or 4 year degree courses. Besides, 3 prestigious universities overseas have also set up their branch campuses in Malaysia offering a range of degree programs. They are
  • Monash University
  • Curtin University of Technology
  • University of Nottingham
Apart from the Universities, there are many established private educational institutions. These private educational institutions, collaborating with their foreign university partners in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand, have been playing a vital role in providing a wide range of tertiary programs. Students enrolled in the programs complete all or part of their studies in Malaysia, and they can expect significant savings compared to completing the entire course overseas. There are three main types of programs, namely 3+0, Split and Credit transfer programs.
  • 3+0 program
Students complete the entire program in Malaysia and they will be conferred with a foreign degree, meaning they get a foreign degree at a much lower cost.
  • Split programs (2+1, 1.5+1.5, 1+2)
Under these programs, students can complete part of their studies in Malaysia and the rest overseas.
  • Credit Transfer
Students study in Malaysia and obtain required credits, and transfer them to universities overseas.

Compared to studying in other countries, it is much economical to get a tertiary education in Malaysia. Students can obtain a Foreign Bachelor degree at local costs by enrolling in a 3+0 program. Besides, the cost of living in Malaysia is much lower than that in other countries.
